Commercial Counselor Xu Gave a Speech on “Building Better China-US Economic and Trade Relations”

At the invitation of Bridgeport University in Connecticut, Mr. Xu Bing, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Consulate General in New York attended the opening ceremony of “China Week” launched by Bridgeport University and gave a speech on “building better China-US economic and trade relations” on Nov 17, 2009. More than 100 audiences, including Dr. Neil Albert Salonen, President of Bridgeport University, the University’s faculty and students and local business people participated in this event.
Mr. Xu first introduced the series of measures the Chinese Government has taken in the past year to address the international financial crisis and their positive effects, and briefed the audience on the current situation of China’s economy and foreign trade and economic cooperation. Mr. Xu recapped the sound development of the mutually-beneficial trade and economic relations between China and the US in the past 30 years, and analyzed how the economic stimulus plan of China and the US, efforts in adjusting economic structure and the trend of China-US trade and economic relations have contributed to the solid basis of China-US trade and economic cooperation and brought opportunities to both countries’ companies. He also outlined the brighter future of China-US trade and economic cooperation under the guidance of building positive, cooperative and comprehensive China-US relations in the 21st Century.
Mr. Qian Xiaoqiang, vice consul of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Consulate General in New York also attended the above event.
